Michael Farry has been writing poetry since 2004.
He is a founder member of Boyne Writers Group, Trim.
He has had some poetry published in magazines and has had some poems shortlisted and commended in poetry competitions.
He is one of the writers included in the Meath/Cavan Arts Offices LitLab initiative.

He has attended workshops and courses with various poets in Ireland and an Arvon poetry course in the UK with poets Colette Bryce and Matthew Hollis.

He was selected for Poetry Ireland Introductions in 2011.

His first collection, Asking for Directions, was published by Doghouse Books, Tralee in May 2012 and can be purchased from their website.


He has written two poem sequences, one based on real and fictious events and characters in Sligo during the civil war 1922-23. Two poems from this sequence have been commended or shortlisted in competitions,
Consumption in the Sligo Scríobh Poetry Competition 2006 and New Year's Night 1923 in the Boyne Arts Festival Poetry competition 2007. The other sequence is based on a walk from Ballsbridge to Dublin's city centre.
